Euroclear and Clearstream announce action against Russia

On 25 February, Clearstream announced the suspension of settlements on transactions involving the Russian ruble until further notice, as well as settlements on all Russian securities held by Clearstream. The restrictions also covered services for the exchange of foreign currency involving the ruble.

Also, on 28 February, Euroclear Bank announced the suspension of a transaction with Clearstream Banking Luxembourg through the Bridge platform for settlements on the Russian securities issued under the Russian laws, and all securities denominated in Russian rubles.

From 3 March, settlements for transactions denominated in rubles outside of Russia in the Euroclear Bank system will be possible only on the Free-of-Payment basis. Internal settlements in the Euroclear Bank system on transactions with Russian securities in rubles will be terminated.
